With Great Power comes sh tty artwork At the risk of sounding like a big jerk I just want to state that I absolutely HATE the so called art of Chris Bachalo Dude EVERYTHING you draw looks like it is made out of marshmallows. This guy has led me to AVOID and NOT read MANY books that I otherwise would have been interested in reading This guy led me to the decision I will no longer read books with sh tty art So, Thank you library, but I will return this one unread, and I will spend my time With Great Power comes sh tty artwork At the risk of sounding like a big jerk I just want to state that I absolutely HATE the so called art of Chris Bachalo Dude EVERYTHING you draw looks like it is made out of marshmallows. This guy has led me to AVOID and NOT read MANY books that I otherwise would have been interested in reading This guy led me to the decision I will no longer read books with sh tty art So, Thank you library, but I will return this one unread, and I will spend my time on something better

There should not be any way for me to be displeased with a comic in which the X Men fight giant mutant lizards in the sewers of New York This should be completely unpossible, dudes. So let s go down the checklist of Ways To Ruin Comics 1 Large chunk of the comic takes place in internet chatrooms Internet chatrooms haven t existed since the early 90 s NO ONE WANTS TO READ PAGES OF CHAT IN A VISUAL NARRATIVE YOU MOUTH BREATHER.2 Villain speeches longer than a page ESPECIALLY NOT MULTI ISSUE There should not be any way for me to be displeased with a comic in which the X Men fight giant mutant lizards in the sewers of New York This should be completely unpossible, dudes. So let s go down the checklist of Ways To Ruin Comics 1 Large chunk of the comic takes place in internet chatrooms Internet chatrooms haven t existed since the early 90 s NO ONE WANTS TO READ PAGES OF CHAT IN A VISUAL NARRATIVE YOU MOUTH BREATHER.2 Villain speeches longer than a page ESPECIALLY NOT MULTI ISSUE LONG VILLAIN SPEECHES.3 Long discussions about each character s power and how it works Quick Emma, change into diamond form Diamond form inhibits your telepathy so you won t be able to read Dark Beast s thoughts, but at least it will protect you from the lizard transforming ray This could actually be funny, IF IT WAS MEANT TO BE FUNNY 4 Happy endings You know what the best part is It s a win win Heroes being heroes Nothing , nothing less GIMME SOME PATHOS SRSLY5 Gambit BECAUSE NO ONE LIKES GAMBIT

I can sense a pattern is forming here it was like The Curse Of The Mutants replacing the Vampires with Lizards it was cool to see Wolverine and Storm in Lizardy form it was also cool and funny watching Spidy in the mix of all what was happening. The arc story started with Cyclopes trying to generate a good publicity for the team with the help of a P.R firm trying to make them look good in the media and in the public eyes , fighting crimes and saving people. This was good , he sent a grou I can sense a pattern is forming here it was like The Curse Of The Mutants replacing the Vampires with Lizards it was cool to see Wolverine and Storm in Lizardy form it was also cool and funny watching Spidy in the mix of all what was happening. The arc story started with Cyclopes trying to generate a good publicity for the team with the help of a P.R firm trying to make them look good in the media and in the public eyes , fighting crimes and saving people. This was good , he sent a group of X men to investigate a kidnapping situation someone there is abducting children. They went up there and went to the sewers, they found the lizards and the crazy mutant grey scientist playing crazy with the DNA turning children into cold blooded lizards , they fought some lizards , got turned into one in the way except for Emma and Spidy then saved the day , the children and caught the mad mutant. In this arc story , I really like Spidy in it he brought fun with him to the mix , the dialogues between him and Wolverine was very fun , I liked Emma s behavior too in the story it was very good.I didn t like the artwork that much here , it wasn t that great but O.K

When the heroic age mandate came down, I imagine Gischler is in an awkward spot this series is supposed to be all about the X Men interacting with other heroes But they ve just moved to the West Coast, and every superhero in the marvel universe lives in New York This leads to the absurd set up of having the X Men fly across the country to New York to help save the day I guess New York is also the only place with bad guys Anyway, after the stupid set up, the book is quite enjoyable I enjoy When the heroic age mandate came down, I imagine Gischler is in an awkward spot this series is supposed to be all about the X Men interacting with other heroes But they ve just moved to the West Coast, and every superhero in the marvel universe lives in New York This leads to the absurd set up of having the X Men fly across the country to New York to help save the day I guess New York is also the only place with bad guys Anyway, after the stupid set up, the book is quite enjoyable I enjoyed how the X Men investigate the case instead of punching their way through things, as well as the twist on the expected villain It also doesn t hurt that I love Bachalo s art, although I know it s a big turn off for some

If Gischler s goal was to recreate the context free comics of the 70s, where everything was a big fight and there were no arcs to advance, he s done a great job The result has good dialogue, interesting artwork, and so little depth that it s barely worth reading.

I haven t read any X men comics in a while so when I saw this for 99p on the Kindle I thought it had to be worth a go plus I was intrigued about the idea of the X men going public rather than hiding away basically underground. There was good and no so good I struggled to like the art work but I thought the writing was quite good I like the fact that Storm and Emma bickered, I thought that was quite believable and it was nice to see Storm being a bit down down to earth in her attitude Gambit I haven t read any X men comics in a while so when I saw this for 99p on the Kindle I thought it had to be worth a go plus I was intrigued about the idea of the X men going public rather than hiding away basically underground. There was good and no so good I struggled to like the art work but I thought the writing was quite good I like the fact that Storm and Emma bickered, I thought that was quite believable and it was nice to see Storm being a bit down down to earth in her attitude Gambit with the teenage girls was poorly drawn but again funny in terms of the writing and actually I liked the group overall in terms of the relationship dynamics It wasn t too Wolverine centered which is always a nice change Spiderman was a bit meh he didn t move me either way good or bad but I was a bit surprised that several pages were devoted to him and Emma attempting to save the day Now that she s on the team she s apparently super important in terms of saving the rest of them To be fair as I said at the start I m a bit out of touch with the X world so that might be in keeping with recent issues but it was a surprise for me personally Ironically Emma and Scott together is actually a bit easier to put up with than Scott and Jean Actually I think almost anyone with Scott would be preferable to Jean There was a random story tagged on at the end about Jubilee adjusting to life as a vampire another surprise for me My only issue with that one was that it seemed like an excuse for Xavier to tell a longer than necessary flashback story he could have just said he once knew a vampire that was good and coped with his vampirism Overall it was interesting and I always like looking at different art styles but it didn t wow me

Pretty good Honestly, the story is basic bordering on dumb But the art was spectacular, I just love Chris Bachalo s bizarre style so much And the dialogue from wisecracking spider man and deadpan fancy emma frost, with side amounts of Gambit s trademark whatever it is made it a joy to read The whole thing was basically a watered down version of Matt Fraction s time on Uncanny, mixed with the specific short story from the preceding Curse of the Mutants arc, drawn by Bachalo, where Gambit and Pretty good Honestly, the story is basic bordering on dumb But the art was spectacular, I just love Chris Bachalo s bizarre style so much And the dialogue from wisecracking spider man and deadpan fancy emma frost, with side amounts of Gambit s trademark whatever it is made it a joy to read The whole thing was basically a watered down version of Matt Fraction s time on Uncanny, mixed with the specific short story from the preceding Curse of the Mutants arc, drawn by Bachalo, where Gambit and Storm teamed up Good stuff from an enjoyable era of X men, if not amazing in its plot
