This is such a good bookThis book is very clever and heartwarming It's like playing a game of what if about Elvis Presley's life Very charming with a completely unexpected twist at the end I never saw coming
Fun audiobook As always when I personally know authors in this case both author Christine Gomez and narrator Elmer Strasser are former coworkers I abide by the 4 star rule
Saving the King is a very pleasant way to spend a winter weekend Lots of us get occasional what if kinds of thoughts this book takes that ball and runs with it There are lots of things to like a little adventure a little suspense a tropical island uite a bit of nostalgia and even a little romance and spirituality thrown in for good measure That may sound like perhaps biting off too much for a modest length novel but the flow was handled very well in short chapters I'm no Elvis authority so I couldn't comment on the accuracy of how the authors portrayed the King but it seemed believable to me I also don't know anything about the drug detoxification process but the way it was described here was totally believable I wasn't prepared for the ending twist but that turned into a great way to wrap up the bookLots of characters were included besides Elvis and the little boy the reporter the pilot the office assistant the staff at the detox center Elvis's inner circle and daughter even Johnny Cash All of their subplots contributed in a neat way to the larger story It all added up to a very enjoyable book
I am a lifelong Elvis fan so I was excited to read this book Elvis died the day I registered for high school I was so upset I had to remove the entire wall of his photos in my room and would still believe he was alive if he hadn't been laying in state That said it was wonderful to suspend believe and dream that things had been different that someone had stepped in to Save the King The story held my interest from start to finish If only it had actually happened
Interesting but out thereWithout providing a spoiler I will say that this made for an interesting but ultimately disappointing readThe story is well written and detailed I just found it unbelievable I did learn some about Elvis and his history and that was appreciated
I wasn't a Elvis fan but this book is simply amazing In a fictionalized account of what could have happened if some one resuscitated Elvis in 1977 It is about self discovery and faith
Can't Put DownElvis fans everywhere will be touched by this book that captures his personality as he overcomes his demons The ending was a big surprise to me though
Saving The KingHappily suspended reality to enjoy this uplifting work Frankly I felt a need to escape from the daily violence of the real world
Good story writing was ok Ending was a let down
Long live the King of Rock n' RollShouldn't he have had a little time to settle things with his family?? And finished the concert Lived a little longer?
