Jennifer Rees Larcombe came to speak at our church women's breakfast and she was so tender and caring She cut straight to the heart of many of the women's issues and helped us pray about them This book is an autobiography and she tells her life story as accurately as possible embarrassingly so at times but it helped me to identify with her and repent of my sin along with her What stood out for me I am 25 years old was that she wrote this in her 60s looking back over her life and was able to see how God had indeed worked through many awful situations for her good I can only pray that I will do the same when I reach that age but for now it encouraged me to wait and see what God has in store for me and to see things as part of his long term plan

This author is well known on the British side due to her well known parents who were like the Mr and Mrs Billy Graham of England as far as their Christian work goes Rees Larcombe has written novels and picture book devotionals I was aroused to read her later life memoir after having read one of her novels decades ago and it always stuck with me a good sign This is the story of how her health fell apart how her husband and the Lord helped keep her large family going and then eventually after a miraculous healing in truth how her husband decides to leave her for another woman Jennifer RL is a true treasure of faith humility and followership of Christ no matter what while still being a real person who knows how to feel get discouraged etc While Adrian Plass has said this book is brilliantly written and reads like a novel I differ with him on the novel part He mustn't read many novels It's a memoir a spiritual biography of sorts and would most likely interest women who have larger families who are in ministry who have a heart for God andor whose husband has deserted them for another Or if you like memoir with a beautiful intimacy with God theme attached For me this book was like reading the story of a good friend I felt a strong kinship with JRL It's not often that you come across Christian women who have suffered long and deep in their life and through it all had this one single passion to know and love God throughout and beyond

This is a very special kind of autobiography told with emphasis on Jennifer's relationship with God with all the ups and downs all the trials and tribulations and she has been through some very painful trials told with great honesty and willingness to share even the most excruciatingly embarrassing stuff In this book she has opened herself up in a very personal wayIn her own words this book is really my way of handing on to others all that I have personally discovered about the goodness and faithfulness of God As I am no theologian but just an ordinary granny the only way I could communicate my discoveries was by telling you how they have impacted my own private journey a journey started when as a small child she sat on a tree stump and told God that she wanted to really know himI found this book inspiring encouraging and challenging

A truly inspiring book Many people have heard of Jennifer Rees Larcombe as the lady who was wheel chair bound and was divinely healed This book goes much further as she tells of the many ups and downs in her life but ultimately how desperate situations have brought her closer to God I've found this book has deeply challenged me and made me desire the intimacy in my relationship which I know is missing I think this is a book for wherever you are on your spiritual journey as it can not fail to inspire you to go deeper

Autobiography Very frank story telling the bad stuff too and what was resolved and how I was moved to tears and inspired and encouragedHer parents were evangelists and later ran a retreatconference centre but she was isolated She later wrote books and became a public speaker Paralysed by viral encephalitis an inspiration to many She was miraculously healed 8 years later but it cost her her marriage

At first I thought the accolade on the front Brilliantly written gripping from first to last was overstating it a little Well maybe a lot But I found myself getting drawn in in spite of myself and I never saw what ended up happening coming Not a comfortable read in the end but a good one with important reminders
