I enjoyed this book as a celebration of autumn and the wonderful things associated with autumn as well as a peek into the Amish community I think some of the words they use would inspire some great context clues lessons I could also see a great compare and contrast lesson using this book for class Even during my Merchant unit for advanced students, it would give them an idea about the countryside and a time that was is simpler than ours and has its own rhythm The storytelling and words share I enjoyed this book as a celebration of autumn and the wonderful things associated with autumn as well as a peek into the Amish community I think some of the words they use would inspire some great context clues lessons I could also see a great compare and contrast lesson using this book for class Even during my Merchant unit for advanced students, it would give them an idea about the countryside and a time that was is simpler than ours and has its own rhythm The storytelling and words share that rhythm and you can feel it as you read the book It would be great for that type of background information

Really liked the depiction of the Amish Very positive The pictures were realistic and very detailed Only questionable part some of the older men were playing checkers, and I ve heard that the Amish do not play games like that because they frown on competition.
