As it says in the intro to this book, not much of what Goldman says is unique you can find better articulated arguments for anarcho syndicalism and anti militarism elsewhere This isn t the book to learn anarchist theory But in each of these essays, there is some little gem that sticks out and crystalizes her theory into something passionate and tangible Goldman s writing is so sure and grabbing and excited Convincing.Particularly good essays Minorities versus majorities on why anarchis As it says in the intro to this book, not much of what Goldman says is unique you can find better articulated arguments for anarcho syndicalism and anti militarism elsewhere This isn t the book to learn anarchist theory But in each of these essays, there is some little gem that sticks out and crystalizes her theory into something passionate and tangible Goldman s writing is so sure and grabbing and excited Convincing.Particularly good essays Minorities versus majorities on why anarchism versus other leftist esp statist paradigms The Traffic in Women and Woman Suffrage both controversial essays worthwhile for their historical content alone holy shit those ladies were up against a lot , but also for the complexity she brings to suffrage arguments that make Goldman one of the US s first radical feminists The main point is that letting rich white ladies vote isn t moving power into the hands of the oppressed at all The Psychology of Political Violence You could read 500 pages of Derrick Jensen and Ward Churchill s dense Pacifism as Pathology, but I liked Goldman s simple essay best.My favorite stuff was the excerpts form her autobiography, though, and the afterword to her book on the Russian Revolution They contained the gems I mentioned earlier the commitment to practical applications of her anarchist philosophies What a badass and fun lady
