Ursula was married to a journalist who had a very public affair with a politician, and subesquently married said politician To say Ursula is bitter about it would be an understatement, however she is doing her best to move things along with a new relationship However when some small town gossip hits her ears regarding the new man and his penchant for younger girls, Ursula begins to doubt the connection they have and his motives The relationship itself feels like we ve picked up a story that w Ursula was married to a journalist who had a very public affair with a politician, and subesquently married said politician To say Ursula is bitter about it would be an understatement, however she is doing her best to move things along with a new relationship However when some small town gossip hits her ears regarding the new man and his penchant for younger girls, Ursula begins to doubt the connection they have and his motives The relationship itself feels like we ve picked up a story that we are meant to already know about The familiarity in which it is described is confusing as we have no basis to begin to understand these characters, and really just sets the reader up for some bafflement about if you ve missed a chapter in the book The mystery thriller element of the book really comes out of nowhere and the ending is a bit too saccharine It really wasn t exciting enough or original enough to make it a good book, so I was glad when it was over

What a useless waste of time If you re looking for a thriller or a romance or a decent family drama, don t bother with this book.Let me start with the main character, Ursula She is the epitome of a drama queen Not long out of a failed marriage, she s in a relationship with Julian, who is a long time friend However she spends her whole time with him sulking and pushing him away The reasons for this are not particularly clear, other than that she seems to be just a thoroughly unpleasant perso What a useless waste of time If you re looking for a thriller or a romance or a decent family drama, don t bother with this book.Let me start with the main character, Ursula She is the epitome of a drama queen Not long out of a failed marriage, she s in a relationship with Julian, who is a long time friend However she spends her whole time with him sulking and pushing him away The reasons for this are not particularly clear, other than that she seems to be just a thoroughly unpleasant person. The first half of the book involves a lot of hand wringing by Ursula over their relationship and there s little else to the story. Then we have the abduction, and the last half of the book is spent wrapping things up, which took far too many pages in my opinion. There are lots of unanswered questions surrounding the abduction story, which is over with pretty quickly, and turns into a bit of a non event. The big secret surrounding Julian and his frequent trips to Uganda turned out to be something I d guessed right from the beginning, so it wasn t really the big reveal the author probably hoped for.I had no empathy or respect for Ursula, who seemed a bit of a spoiled brat The writing was mediocre, the dialogue stilted and not realistic, and the two girls didn t bear any resemblance to 11 and 12 year olds I ve ever met A disappointing book all round

I liked the first half of this book most I thought it dwindled towards the end, particularly the bit where Jessie disappears and how it is solved was a bit too easy and tidy I would have liked some of the other characters to be developed a littleEnjoyable none the less.
